Attorney General Coleman on Kentucky Body Armor Grant
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Attorney General Russell Coleman visited Bowling Green on Thursday for a vest demonstration, hoping to narrow the search on outfitting Kentucky Law Enforcement with updated equipment.
News 40 spoke to Attorney General Coleman who told us that a staggering 20% of Kentucky’s law enforcement either don’t have or are currently using expired body armor. Due to this large discrepancy, Coleman attended a demonstration in conjunction with the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police to evaluate the efficacy of Galls body armor with the help of vendor Point Blank.
Coleman said that he takes his assigned duty of outfitting law enforcement seriously as he was a former special agent with the FBI. Walking down memory lane, Coleman told us that today was a bit emotional for him as he walked up today. He said he purchased Galls from Point Blank when he was an agent, so the “full circle moment” was special to him.
Attorney General Coleman said thanks to the general assembly appropriating $15 million dollars to the grant, he encourages every department to visit the attorney general website to enroll in the program for new gear.
