“An Abuse Of Office” – Biden Team Blasts Trump’s Actions
President Trump is facing harsh criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike for his apparent moves to pressure state lawmakers to overturn election results. NBC's Susan McGinnis reports.
(NBC News) — President Trump remained defiant Friday, refusing to concede the election and pushing ahead with unprecedented, long-shot efforts to overturn it.
Speaking at an announcement on prescription drug prices, he accused manufacturers of delaying vaccine announcements to hurt him.
“Big pharma ran millions of dollars of negative ads against me during my campaign. which I won, by the way, we’ll find that out, almost 74 million votes,” Mr. Trump said.
Protesters were on hand as two Republican lawmakers from Michigan arrived in Washington for a meeting with the president, with the White House denying reports he’s trying to stop that state from certifying a win for Joe Biden.
“He routinely meets with lawmakers from all across the country,” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany Said.
It appears to be anything but routine, part of a strategy pinning hopes on Republican state legislatures bypassing the will of voters and appointing pro-Trump electors who could hand him a second term.
President-elect Biden’s team is expressing outrage at the president’s extraordinary efforts to reverse the election.
“It’s an abuse of office, it’s an open attempt to intimidate election officials. It’s absolutely appalling,” Biden attorney Bob Bauer said.
