AmeriCorps to perform upgrades in and around Mammoth Cave National Park
MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky.- Mammoth Cave National Park will soon be getting some upgrades.
Beginning Monday, November 4, a 10 member AmeriCorps crew from Iowa will be working on several projects throughout the national park and in local communities outside the park.
The main project involves trail work needed on the surface trail leading to Wondering Woods Cave. Once the work is complete, the cave will open for tours for the first time in about 40 years.
AmeriCorps is a voluntary civil society program supported by the U.S. federal government.
The crew’s work will last until December 13.
