UPDATE: Amber Alert canceled, child found safe

PRINCETON, Ky. – Authorities say the Amber Alert for a missing Princeton child has been canceled. She has been found safe, and her father has been taken into custody, according to troopers.

PRINCETON, Ky. – An Amber Alert was issued Monday morning for a 5-year-old child, and authorities say her father is wanted in relation to the murder of the child’s mother.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Lela Black, 5, of Princeton, Kentucky has been reported missing since Jan. 26.

The biological father, Byron Black, 42, is wanted on an arrest warrant for murder in the death of the child’s mother, Kelly Black, authorities say. On Jan. 28, KSP says it was dispatched to the residence where Lela Black was known to live, where they investigated the mother’s death.

Troopers say they learned the mother had a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Troopers say Lela Black is believed to be with Byron Black, and he is believed to be armed and dangerous. They may be traveling in a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado with the California license plate 5J83779 and paint peeling off of the hood.

Byron Black is described as 6 feet tall with brown eyes and hair.

Lela Black is described as 3 feet 6 inches tall and 40 pounds with brown hair and eyes.
