Alzheimer’s Association hosts workshop on legal and financial help

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Alzheimer’s Association offered a workshop for legal and financial help for the families and caregivers of those suffering from the neurodegenerative disease.

Kentucky ElderLaw, a legal firm in Bowling Green, provided information on the costs of long term care as well as navigating the legal concerns, such as power of attorney and healthcare surrogate.

Misty Vantrease, a partner with Kentucky ElderLaw, says, “We want to help people who maybe they have a loved one with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia to know what to expect. What they need to prepare. So that includes preparing for times of incapacity when someone can’t make decisions, and then also how to pay for care if they need it.”

The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection and maximizing quality care and support.
