BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky Kids on the Block, Inc. is mourning the loss of the nonprofit’s co-founder, Alice Kummer.

Ashley Reynolds issued the following statement regarding Kummer’s death:

“As co-founder of our Kentucky Kids on the Block, Inc., she selflessly served as an unpaid director for 17 years. Her unwavering dedication to the puppets was unmatched. No one can convince me that one person did more for one nonprofit than Alice did for the puppets I lost the person who always understood my professional journey, who walked in my shoes and illuminated my path. She called me her angel, which if you know me, you can agree was giving me far too much credit. I loved our hour plus phone conversations so much. She cheered me on professionally and personally. I am crushed but I know we will be reunited one day and until then she will the best guardian angel. Please shine bright on our garden tour today, Alice. Shine bright so your light will continue to guide me. I love you so much.”

In Kummer’s honor and to help her nonprofit continue to grow, the community is invited to purchase a $20 raffle ticket. The drawing will be Sept. 22 at a golf scramble called Jamie’s Shot. You may also donate to the Venmo @kidsontheblock.
