Adopt, don’t shop at BRAWA Clear the Shelters

BARREN CO., Ky.-If you’ve ever thought about adopting a pet, this weekend is your time to do it!

“We’re ready, we’re gung ho. We want to see this shelter empty,” said General Shelter Manager Connie Greer.

Barren River Animal Welfare Association, also known as BRAWA, is holding their annual Clear The Shelters event. Adoptions are 50% off.

“It’s extremely enticing to people. If they’ve been thinking about adopting, it makes it extremely affordable,” said Greer.

Employee Shelby Burton got her dog, Nina, here.

“It started off as a foster fail. I got her when she was about five weeks old and when it was time to bring her back I could not. Her name was Nina, I couldn’t live without that dog. She’s amazing, she’s amazing,” said Burton.

BRAWA is also at capacity…overflowing with dogs, cats, and other animals looking for a home.

“For every one that goes out about five come in,” said Greer.

Let’s try to get these animals adopted this weekend.

“We’re just doing our very best, we’re here for the welfare of animals, and we’re gonna get them all out of here,” said Greer.

Clear the Shelters is this Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call BRAWA at 270-751-7297 to make an appointment.
