FRANKLIN, Ky. – Police have released further details surrounding the report of a person with a gun on Franklin-Simpson High School property Tuesday.

The Franklin Police Department stated in a release Thursday that around 2 p.m. Tuesday, as authorities were on scene for that report, someone called in a bomb threat to Franklin-Simpson Middle School.

Police say at about the same time, a student posted on Facebook that they were going to shoot up the school.

All Franklin-Simpson schools were placed on lockdown. Law enforcement worked all three incidents at the same time.

Moments later, Franklin PD says they were able to find a juvenile on Cherry Street matching the description of the reported suspect on high school property, who was also carrying a gun.

He was taken into custody.

Police say they traced the number that called the bomb threat into the middle school. A middle-school aged juvenile was taken to the Franklin Police Department for questioning, according to authorities.

A third juvenile, who authorities say was responsible for making the shooting threat on Facebook, was also taken in for questioning.

The second and third juvenile are facing a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening.

The first juvenile found on Cherry Street faces charges of possession of a weapon on school property, possession of marijuana and third-degree criminal trespassing.

Detectives were advised to write all three juveniles a citation and release to their parents.

Police say none of the three incidents were related.
