Foggy goggles: Johnson loses sight of downhill podium

CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) — American contender Breezy Johnson made a major mistake early in her downhill run at the skiing world championships that she attributed to foggy goggles.  She says the issue “distracted” her and she ”lost sight” of what she needed to do. Johnson did well to recover and was faster than anyone else through the middle section of the sun-bathed Olympia delle Tofane course. But she finished ninth and was nearly a full second behind Swiss winner Corinne Suter. Johnson has shifted her sights to contending for the World Cup downhill title. She sits second in the season-long standings.
