Washington State Police Launch College Party Crackdown
The city of Pullman, Washington is cracking down on parties around the Washington State University campus in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. KHQ's Ayanna Likens reports.
PULLMAN, Wash. (NBC News) — A COVID-19 party crackdown is underway at Washington State University.
In the last five days police in Pullman, Washington have ticked eight people, including seven college students, for violating the city’s COVID-19 mandates by throwing parties.
Those guidelines limit gatherings to ten or fewer people.
In each case, the person holding the party received a $250 citation.
Many of Pullman’s new coronavirus cases have occurred since Washington State University students began moving back to the area.
City leaders say if the mandates already in place don’t work, they will consider ticketing partygoers along with the person holding the gathering.
