Covid-19 Cases Continue to Decrease in Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Tuesday, Governor Andy Beshear held his daily press conference from the chamber of Kentucky’s Supreme Court on the second floor of the state capitol building.
Beshear began by addressing some positive and negative events that took place in the Commonwealth over the weekend. The Governor praised Kentuckians who responsibly observed Memorial Day, while officially discussing the effigy that was displayed outside the capitol building on Sunday.
Governor Beshear stated, “I will not be afraid. And I will not back down, not to them, not to anybody else… I owe it to the people of Kentucky not to bow to terror.”
As far as updated coronavirus numbers go, Beshear reported 387 new cases since his last update, which came on Saturday, May 23rd. That brings the statewide total to 8,951.
In addition, the Governor reported three new deaths, as the number of Kentuckians lost to the virus rises to 394.
On the positive side of things, Beshear announced that a total of 3,115 people have recovered from Covid-19 and a total of 193,576 tests have been administered throughout the state.
Locally, every county in the WNKY viewing area reported confirmed positive case increases, which is to be expected since the last update from the Barren River District Health Department came on Friday, before the extended holiday weekend.
Warren County saw the largest increase in positive cases, bringing the county-wide total to 950.
The good news is that 603 Kentuckians across the WNKY viewing area have recovered from the coronavirus, which is an increase of nearly 100 recoveries since the most recent report last Friday.
