Another week of reopening Kentucky begins
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This week is bringing more reopenings to Kentucky in accordance with governor Beshear’s plan.
Monday, dog owners rejoiced as the H.P. Thomas Bark Park opened back up to the public.
And later in the week, J.C. Kirby and Sons funeral home will be opening Wednesday to accommodate services at one third the normal capacity, according to Warren County Coroner Kevin Kirby.
“We’ll space the chairs apart, keep everyone six feet apart. We’ll put chairs together so families can be together or couples. And then during visitation hours, that is during the funeral, 33%. Visitation hours also, then we can let people come in and visit but they will need to keep their 6 food distance apart and we’ll keep a count of the number of people that enter and leave our building and that way we can keep our people still being able to come by,” said Kirby.
This reopening will allow mourning families to have a more typical funeral service for their loved ones.
“They can have a service that they can be here, and it can be memorable for them and not that it happened during this pandemic,” said Kirby.
Retail businesses will also be opening Wednesday at 33% capacity.
An opening Rachel Sheldon, the store manager of the Bowling Green Steel Mill and Company, is looking forward to.
“Our girls are excited. We have heard nothing but excitement from them. All of us are ready to get back on that routine again. Things have been crazy and just the fact of the unknown for the last couple of months,” said Sheldon.
Shopping online at these boutiques has been keeping locally-owned businesses afloat.
Soon, in person shopping can resume.
“We are so excited to see our customers again, to open our doors. We have all new summer apparel, so we are just ready to get things back up and running,” said Sheldon.
These openings coming restrictions, though.
Daily temperature checks, wearing masks, social distancing and hand washing are still required as a part of the phased reopenings.
Friday, restaurants in the commonwealth will begin opening up at 33% capacity.
