Dog dumped like trash in Glasgow

There are so many questions after a dog was discovered on the side of the road in Glasgow, possibly dropped there in a trash bag.

We still have no idea how or who did this but now after being dumped like garbage, the dog is now getting the medical attention he needs.

Here’s what we know about the dog that has now been named Arthur…

On Sunday night, Karen Smith Clark was out with her own dog when she stumbled upon what she thought was a tiny fawn, but it was actually a dog.

“They found this dog. There was a garbage bag that was nearby” says Connie Greer, the manager of Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA)

According to a Facebook post, Clark believes the dog was dropped there in the garbage bag.

She immediately contacted the Sheriff’s department and Animal Control.

Animal Control Officer Devine rushed to the scene to help.

“It’s sad to see that people can do that to animals, but that’s my job to go out there and make sure the welfare animals are getting the treatment and everything they need. I love my job. We do everything we can to make sure the dogs, cats and other animals out there get the help they need.” says Carol Devine, an Animal Control Officer.

When Arthur the dog arrived at the shelter last night, it was obvious he was in bad health, but Greer says she can see a difference in him after just one day.

“Now, seeing him today, he’s up, he’s wagging his tail, he’s happy! He seems very secure that he’s been found and someone is going to care for him.” says Greer.

The veterinarian at the shelter evaluated Arthur and believes he has mange and a yeast infection that has caused him to lose his fur, but other than that it appears he is in good health, around four years old, and most likely a Shepard mix.

While the Facebook post about Arthur has gone viral, Greer says unfortunately they see similar cases all the time.

“This is not new to us here at the shelter. We see this quite often. It is just disheartening that someone dumped him out and we actually do deal with that as well.” says Greer.

If you have any information on who did this, please contact Glasgow Animal Control.

Arthur is receiving the medical treatment he needs, but the shelter is asking for donations to help with the costs.
