Cave City man accused of assaulting girlfriend, police officer

A Cave City man is behind bars accused of assaulting his girlfriend and a police officer.

Around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, Cave City police responded to a report of an out-of-control individual on Eastland Court.

The arrest report states officers arrived to find 23-year-old Dalton Broome with bloody knuckles. Police say he told them he punched a wall, got into a verbal altercation with his girlfriend, and then struck her in the mouth.

The report states Dalton resisted arrest, took the officer down to the ground with him, and struck him in the head several times with a closed fist.

Broome was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on charges including: third and fourth degree assault, and fleeing or evading police.
