Lexington man dies after allegedly firing gun following pursuit in Bourbon County

Officer Involved Shooting

PARIS, Ky. – A Lexington man is dead after allegedly firing a gun after a vehicle pursuit in Bourbon County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, its Critical Incident Response Team was requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 21 just before 7 p.m.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation revealed the Paris Police Department tried to stop a vehicle that had fled from officers earlier that evening in Fayette County.

Troopers say the vehicle began the pursuit by failing to stop for a Paris police officer. Authorities say the Paris Police Department used a successful PIT maneuver, causing the vehicle pursuit to end on Second Street in Paris, Kentucky.

After the vehicle pursuit ended, authorities say the driver, later identified as 48-year-old Timothy Stone of Lexington, exited the vehicle armed with a gun before firing it.

Authorities say officers fired their weapons in response, striking Stone and resulting in life-threatening injuries.

Stone was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation remains ongoing.
