GLASGOW, Ky. – One man is facing multiple drug possession charges in Glasgow.
According to a release by the Glasgow Police Department, around 8:43 a.m. on Oct. 20, officers were dispatched to a residence on Columbia Avenue regarding a theft complaint with a suspect still on scene.
Authorities say dispatch advised the suspect may be armed with a knife.
Upon arrival, police say they located a male subject matching the given description while he was unloading items from a laundry cart and possessed a knife in his pocket.
The suspect, later identified as 43-year-old Kelly T. Houchens, was confirmed to have an active warrant out of Barren County, authorities say.
Authorities say they removed the knife from Houchens’ possession before searching for additional weapons.
Officers say Houchens was warned multiple times about taking controlled substances or contraband into jail.
Houchens was arrested and transported to the Barren County Detention Center, where he was searched by deputies in the jail. Police say multiple items of controlled substances were found.
Police say Houchens possessed a bag containing 1.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two clear plastic baggies with 1.8 grams of suspected marijuana and 13 white pills of suspected Clonazepam stamped with “TEVA” and “834.”
Houchens is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, second offense (methamphetamine), third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana and first-degree promoting contraband, in addition to the original warrant.
