Knights of Columbus teams with Red Cross to support local Bowling Green school

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Knights of Columbus hit two birds with one stone by helping the community and students secure a scholarship through a blood drive.

On Tuesday, the organization teamed up with St. Joseph Catholic Church to benefit not just the shortage the Red Cross is facing but to help credit students at Chesterton Academy of Bowling Green for a chance at a scholarship.

Community members were lined up for the cause at the church.

Organizers say this benefit gives the new school and students a chance to grow, as well as saving someone’s life.

“They have so many units donated, they get scholarship money. So the Knights of Columbus help Chesterton Academy, which is a new high school here in Bowling Green. Get this blood drive set up so we can start collecting units. We know it’s a time when things are low and we want to be, you know, helping the community out,” said Leonard Walther the Field Agent for Knights of Columbus.

If you missed Tuesday’s event, you can still donate at a local blood drive using the code “Chesterton 19” when you sign up.
