Teams needed for co-ed softball tournament to benefit child with cancer
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A fundraiser will be held Saturday, Nov. 7 to benefit the family of a fifth-grade girl battling a one-of-a-kind brain cancer.
Piper Leonard, a student in Warren County, is currently in Cincinnati, Ohio undergoing treatments.
Staff from her school are working together to put on a coed softball tournament to raise money for her and her mother as they navigate this time.
The event costs $200 per team, and they are currently still hoping to fill a few more spots in the tournament.
“As people who’ve had family members deal with cancer and stuff, we know how stressful it can be. We understand how financially stressful it can also be. Because, you know, I can’t imagine being a mother, having a child having to deal with this situation. And she has bills to pay,” said Christina Combs, one of the people setting up the tournament.
They are also looking for food trucks to set up and donate a portion of their proceeds for the event.
All proceeds from the tournament will go to the family.
