Warren County clerk expands office space

BOWLING GREEN, KY. — The Warren County Clerk’s Office is expanding into space previously used by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at the Warren County Courthouse.

County Clerk Lynette Yates says the additional space will help improve the flow of customers and give the office room to better organize motor vehicle services.

The expansion will allow Kentucky vehicle transfers, out-of-state purchases and other transactions involving people moving into the area to be handled in one area. Annual registration renewals will remain in another area.

Yates says the additional space is needed as Warren County continues to grow.

“Warren County is growing and growing, and we were pretty landlocked with the office space that I currently had,” Yates said. “Then when the sheriff moved out, it allowed me to grow my office because as the county grows, we need to grow to help serve the added population.”

Some employees who currently work in the basement will also move into the newly available space.

Yates says the change should make it easier for customers to access services without having to travel to the basement.

The additional space will also be used by the clerk’s voter department during busy election periods, including the six days of in-office voting before an election. Yates says the move will help reduce foot traffic and backups in the main clerk’s office.

Renovations to the former sheriff’s office space include painting and new flooring. The clerk’s office is waiting for technology work to be completed before making the full transition.

Yates says, barring any delays, the expansion should be completed by the end of the year.
