Wanted man arrested in Allen County, local detectives tackling past cases with new team

ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – The Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force says it has arrested a wanted man, and it’s continuing its investigations into past cases.

On Monday, the agency says it worked with the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force, Allen County SRT and the Kentucky State Police to apprehend 27-year-old Tyrell Simmons on an active parole violation warrant.

Authorities say Simmons had been wanted since May 2024 and reportedly had been staying in Scottsville for around two weeks.

The agency states it is also reopening past sexual assault investigations and following up on evidence.

Detectives stated, “If you are wanted and decide Allen County is a good place to hide, think again. We will look for you. We will follow leads, and we will find you. We also have a message for anyone who believes time has buried their past. Since last week alone, the Allen County- Scottsville Crime Task Force has reopened four older sexual assault investigations. We are going back through these cases, reviewing the evidence, locating witnesses and pursuing leads that may have gone cold years ago. If you committed a sexual assault in Allen County and have spent years believing you got away with it because you were never charged, you may want to reconsider how comfortable you feel. Time doesn’t erase what happened. An old case doesn’t mean a forgotten case. And the fact that you haven’t been charged yet doesn’t mean you never will be. If the evidence establishes probable cause, we will pursue charges. Four cases reopened in one week. Old cases. Fresh eyes. We are going back.”
