LONDON, Ky. – In June, the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association inducted the Class of 2026 into its Hall of Fame.

Included in those inductees was someone who spent several years in the circle in Bowling Green: Shelby Nunn.

The South Warren softball alum was among three athletes to honored. Nunn was a dominant pitcher for the Lady Spartans from 2013 to 2017.

In her junior year, she suffered a torn labrum in her throwing shoulder, but came back even stronger for her senior year.

That season, she helped lead South to a region championship and a third place finish in the state tournament, all while recording 146 strikeouts over the course of the year and finishing with a 1.04 ERA.

After graduating, Nunn continued her softball career with the Hilltoppers where he she earned 64 wins in 149 appearances for a .688 career winning percentage.

Her best season in 2022 saw Nunn receive three Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honors, a Conference USA All-Tournament team selection and a signature win over No. 5 Alabama.

Nunn left a lasting impact during her time at both South Warren and WKU, and to be recognized by the community with the induction was super meaningful to her.

“That first initial feeling was like…wow,” Nunn said. “I’m just super grateful for the opportunity.”

Nunn attended the induction ceremony on June 20, and spoke on what she’ll remember form that moment.

“Honestly, it was just seeing all of the high school athletes there,” Nunn said. “It feels like not so long ago that I was playing in the East-West All-Star Game, and now they’re the ones calling me old. It’s truly a full circle moment, and it’s just unbelievable to see how much the game of softball has grown in Kentucky.”

Fast forward to the 2026 South Warren softball team who won the state tournament for the first time in program history this past June. Nunn followed their journey all season and was overjoyed to see her alma mater go down in record books.

”Their team was unbelievable,” Nunn said. “It’s very refreshing to watch, and I’m excited to see what each and every one of them do at the collegiate level.”
