Allen County Public Library opens new mini-library
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. — The Allen County Public Library celebrated the grand opening of its new mini-library Wednesday, expanding access to books for residents in Allen County and surrounding communities.
Located at 1 Cedar Springs Road next to the Cedar Springs Volunteer Fire Department, the free community book exchange allows visitors to borrow books, donate titles and help keep the shelves stocked for others.
Library officials say the mini-library was created to bring reading materials and library services closer to residents who may not regularly visit the main branch.
“Instead of the little book boxes you often see in communities, we have a small cabin that accommodates readers of all ages,” said Amanda Woods, director of the Allen County Public Library. “Everything operates on the honor system. You can check out what you need, and you don’t have to bring it back. You can also return items here or at the main library whenever you’d like.”
The mini-library offers books for readers of all ages, and is designed to encourage literacy while making reading materials more accessible throughout the community.
Organizers say they hope the new location becomes a convenient resource where families can discover new books, share their own, and foster a love of reading for years to come.
