Motorcyclist charged after fleeing police in Allen County

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – An Allen County motorcyclist is facing numerous charges after a police pursuit.
According to a uniform citation, a detective with the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force observed a motorcycle traveling on KY Highway 980 with no visible registration plate on Tuesday afternoon.
The detective says the motorcyclist, 42-year-old Matthew Stratton of Scottsville, failed to stop, fled officers on Hwy 31 E, and continued onto the KY Hwy 100 intersection.
During a second attempt to stop the motorcycle, Stratton allegedly waved at the detective and continued onto Hwy 100 W.
Law enforcement pursued the motorcycle into the 1000 block of Franklin Road and onto Frost Lane, where Stratton allegedly drove the motorcycle through the front yard of a home.
According to the citation, the detective exited his vehicle and gave verbal commands to the motorcyclist to stop. Stratton allegedly screamed, “don’t shoot me,” at officers and drove onto Hwy 100 E.
Additional law enforcement joined the pursuit that continued onto Oliver Street and into a subdivision.
Officers say Stratton drove into a wood line, dropped the motorcycle and fled on foot. Stratton was found hiding in a bush and arrested. He was transported to the Allen County Jail.
Stratton is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), no registration plates, no motorcycle operator’s license, no registration receipt, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance.
The investigation is ongoing.
