BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Atomic Kitchen is celebrating its one-year anniversary this week, kicking off with a cake cutting on Wednesday evening.

The 80’s themed time capsule opened last June and in the last year has seen much success and even opened another restaurant, the Underground Deli.

In the last year, the nostalgic feel, along with the great food, has made it one of the top food spots in Bowling Green for the community and out-of-town visitors.

Throughout the weekend, Atomic Kitchen will be holding many special deals and events including tonight’s one-year cake cutting and their Dine to Donate event, with a portion of all proceeds going towards Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky.

The idea for the restaurant started as just an idea in Owner Eric Leach’s head and took years to finally make it a reality.

With all of the success and community support that has followed his vision over the past 365 days, it has simply blown him away.

“It’s overwhelming to be honest.” Leach said. “The fact that you have this idea in the back of your head, you put everything on the line and you risk everything to make a dream happen and to see where it is a year later. I couldn’t imagine doing this well.”

Atomic Kitchen will continue the celebration over the course of the weekend. Thursday, June 18th, they will have a free concert by Bueler’s Day Off followed by “Atomic After Dark” karaoke on Friday, June 19th. To end the celebration Saturday, they’ll be hosting Back to the Future Night with a screening of the movie and some giveaways.
