Owensboro man allegedly exposes child to meth, facing multiple drug charges

OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a Daviess County man on multiple felony charges.

The Owensboro Regional Health Hospital (ORHH) contacted KSP Post 16 on Saturday evening to report a three-year-old who tested positive for methamphetamine.

The child was flown to Norton’s Children Hospital in Louisville for specialized care, according to KSP.

During the preliminary investigation, troopers detained the child’s father, 43-year-old Gary D. Walker, of Owensboro.

KSP says that while being processed, Walker was found to have synthetic urine in his possession. Troopers believe Walker was going to use the synthetic urine to alter a drug test.

KSP searched Walker’s vehicle and found a small vial containing a white residue.

A search warrant was conducted early Sunday at Walker’s home on Danberry Street. Investigators say they found approximately five grams of suspected methamphetamine and marjiuana.

Walker is charged with criminal simulation, 2nd degree. ​possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree (1st offense). drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree (1st offense – methamphetamine), ​possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.

He was lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
