Bowling Green man charged with DUI after two-vehicle crash

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One man is behind bars on multiple charges in Bowling Green after a collision on Wednesday.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded around 10:37 p.m. to a reported injury collision at the intersection of Blue Level Road and Russellville Road.

Police say a complainant stated she believed she was “struck by a drunk driver” that had exited a vehicle without shoes and fled the scene.

Authorities say the caller further stated the other vehicle had sideswiped her vehicle while she was waiting for a green light.

According to police, the caller further stated the vehicle that struck her did not stop before the driver ran from the scene.

Authorities say while speaking with the other driver involved, identified as 18-year-old Jeshua Sagastume Puga, he admitted to drinking, with his last drink being at 10:30 p.m. before trying to drive home.

Puga stated he was not aware of hitting another vehicle and claimed his car key broke, police say.

Puga was placed into custody and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance. He was later taken to the Warren County Regional Jail.

He faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, and leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance.
