Lewisburg School set to receive $210,000 from TVA to support energy savings, healthier air

LEWISBURG, Ky. – Lewisburg School is set to receive $210,000 in funding from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
TVA awarded $3.3 million to 121 schools across the Southeast Friday as part of the School Uplift program awards, according to a release.
The funding helps schools reduce power bills and provide healthier air to students.
Lewisburg School was awarded $210,000.
Lewisburg School Principal Grant Warren says the funding and program has provided students with a chance to build leadership skills.
“The TVA School Uplift Program has had a tremendously positive impact on our school. This program has helped us create student-led opportunities such as our Energy Team. These experiences give students the chance to be accountable and serve as leaders in managing our school’s energy and resource usage, while also helping them understand the importance of being contributing members of our community. This recognition reflects our passion for inspiring, supporting, and uplifting every student we serve, as well as our commitment to educating students to be responsible stewards of both our community and the planet,” said Warren.
According to www.energyright.com, TVA EnergyRight’s School Uplift supports schools in the region by offering energy efficiency training and grants that reduce energy costs and improve the quality of the learning environment. All public and private schools are encouraged to participate.
TVA says the programs help schools save an average of 10% on their energy bills.
Cumberland Trace Elementary School and Warren Central High School in Warren County will receive $10,000.
