Man charged with drug offenses after traffic stop in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – An Oak Grove man is facing drug offenses following a traffic stop in Hopkinsville.
According to a uniform citation, the Hopkinsville Police Department observed a vehicle turn without a proper signal into a driveway on Richard Street on Tuesday.
Authorities say during a traffic stop, the front seat passenger was identified as 34-year-old Jamarvis Allen of Oak Grove.
Police say while speaking to the driver, a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle.
During a vehicle search, authorities say they located a handgun, a jar of marijuana and a digital scale.
The driver and Allen were detained.
While searching Allen, authorities say they found cash and a clear plastic bag containing over 4 grams of cocaine.
Allen was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail.
He faces charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 4 grams of cocaine), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess and first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense.
