Police make arrests after alleged multi-state shoplifting hits Franklin Walmart

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Authorities say several people are behind bars after an alleged multi-state shoplifting case involved merchandise at a Franklin Walmart.
According to a uniform citation, the Franklin Police Department was dispatched Wednesday to a Walmart on Nashville Road regarding active fraud occurring at the store.
Police say the store advised an individual was using a fake receipt to obtain a PS5 valued at $899.
Officers say they arrived on scene and identified the male subject. A vehicle was then seen leaving the parking lot, driving recklessly, and was discovered to be connected to the male, according to police.
Authorities say they conducted a traffic stop at Lowe’s, where a juvenile and two adults were detained.
The citation states during a vehicle search, police recovered $4,493 worth of stolen items.
According to police, an investigation revealed all four individuals traveled from Detroit, Michigan to several locations to fraudulently obtain items.
Three subjects, 19-year-old James Reffigee, 20-year-old Donyale Williams and 20-year-old Maurice Shumate, were lodged at the Simpson County Jail.
The juvenile was transported to the Bowling Green Juvenile Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
