MURRAY, Ky. – A Calloway County man is behind bars as a result of an insurance fraud investigation.

According to a social media post by the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, detectives learned a Graves County church had been defrauded of more than $10,000.

Authorities say the fraud case related to insurance coverage, however, deputies say the insurance agent “never purchased the policies for property or liability coverage.”

The suspect, identified as 59-year-old Glen David Ramey of Murray, also owns David Ramey Insurance Company, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office further states Ramey fraudulently “misused funds paid to him and his business directly, for the purpose of purchasing insurance policies.” In some cases, authorities say policies were never obtained for the victim, which left the victim without coverage.

Authorities say the alleged offenses are believed to have occurred from 2022 up to the present time.

Ramey was arrested Wednesday morning at his insurance business in Murray.

Ramey was then transported to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office before being taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center, followed by an out of county detention center.

Ramey faces charges of fraudulent insurance acts, $10,000 or more, and theft by failure to make required disposition of property, over $10,000.

The investigation remains ongoing.
