CASA of the Heartland hosts pinwheel planting in Munfordville
MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – CASA of the Heartland was in downtown Munfordville Tuesday afternoon, planting pinwheels in support of those affected by abuse and neglect.
Staff say it’s an important act by not only raising awareness, but also making sure the community knows help is out there.
“That way, we can hopefully make sure some of our local kiddos, our families are able to get the help that they need, get the support measures and resources that they need. So that way we can prevent that child abuse in the first place,” CASA of the Heartland executive director Michelle Kail says.
Whether it’s pinwheels they can take home or the ones that are being planted outside the Hart County Judicial Center, it’s about more than just bringing awareness to what the organization is all about.
“The more people in our community who know where resources are or how to access resources, the more support the community as a whole has in directing families who might be struggling to those resources. So that is our ultimate goal is just for people to ask questions, reach out or if they want to get involved with CASA, become a CASA volunteer,” Kail says.
Hart County is a newer market for CASA of the Heartland, one of the six counties they serve alongside Grayson, Breckinridge, Hardin, LaRue and Meade.
That’s why they say it’s important to make sure every child in those counties is able to be taken care of.
“We want to make sure that the community knows that we’re here and that we’re building these kiddos up and in their corner, advocating for them and giving them a voice when they’re navigating some of the most unfortunate circumstances in their life. Because at the end of the day, these kids are our future,” Kail says.
