BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green detective is among those receiving recognition for service to the community and a local case.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, detective David Grimsley with BGPD and members of the FBI Louisville Field Office received the U.S. Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service.

The award was presented during a recent ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Grimsley was part of a task force that investigated the disappearance and murder of 7-year-old Morgan Violi, according to BGPD. Authorities say this work “ultimately led to the indictment” of the suspect, Robert Froberg, in Alabama.

“We are grateful for detective Grimsley and all members of the FBI Louisville Office for their dedication and commitment to this case. Our thoughts remain with Morgan Violi’s family,” BGPD stated.
