Child flown for treatment after gunshot to head in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKDZ) – A child has been flown to a Nashville hospital after reportedly sustaining a gunshot to the head in Hopkinsville Monday night.

According to a report by WKDZ, the incident occurred on East Ninth Street in Hopkinsville.

WKDZ reports Hopkinsville police stated they were called at 8:25 p.m. for a “very young child who had a gunshot wound to the head.”

According to WKDZ, the child was transported by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health to later be flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Authorities say they are still investigating the incident but say it appears to be an accidental shooting, WKDZ states.
