ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – A dog is freed from a sinkhole thanks to the efforts of the Allen County community.

According to the Allen County Animal Shelter, the shelter received a call Thursday night stating a dog had fallen about 30 feet down into a sinkhole.

After arriving on scene, the shelter staff say they made a call, and help arrived.

Thanks to the efforts of Jeff Young, Austin Carver, Jake Trade, Chris Shockley, Chris Blankenship and Mike Cooksey, the dog was lifted out of the sinkhole back to safety.

The shelter says when staff left, the dog was “walking around like nothing ever happened” but is still getting checked out by a veterinarian.
