Congressman Brett Guthrie comments before State of the Union Address
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Tonight, leaders from across the county will head to Capitol Hill to listen to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.
He is expected to touch on many topics, including the economy, affordability and escalating tensions with Iran.
Congressman Brett Guthrie is in Washington, D.C. to attend the State of the Union address and says that president has been hard at work for the American people since he took office in January 2025 and has worked closely with Congress and the Senate to fight for things like no tax on tips or overtime, stronger border security and fair trade with other countries.
This hard work, Guthrie says, has led to economic growth that the country has not seen in four decades.
“There is a lot of great stories to tell, and we’ve worked hard to get Americans three per over 3% economic growth, almost 4%. The third quarter, we expect that to be strong again, could be up to some people are estimated it could be up to 5% economic growth. That’s back to like 1980s levels when it was Morning America with Ronald Reagan. And so we have a great story to tell, and we need to focus on it and make sure people understand what we did,” said Guthrie.
The State of the Union address is Tuesday at 8 p.m.
