Roadway near WKU to close for continuing shooting investigation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A shooting investigation will close roadways near Western Kentucky University.

The Bowling Green Police Department and Kentucky State Police announced that University Boulevard from Russellville Road to Old Morgantown Road will be closed from 9 am until 9:30 am on Wednesday.

All four lanes will be closed.

The shooting happened on the early morning of Feb. 15 on University Boulevard near Old Morgantown Road.

Bowling Green Police Department Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward told WNKY News 40 that one person was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

On Monday, the Bowling Green Police Department announced the arrest of  20-year-old Christopher Meza Ramirez, of Bowling Green, in connection with the shooting.

At the time of the announcement, BGPD said it is actively investigating additional suspects.

Meza Ramirez is charged with first-degree assault and was lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.

The Bowling Green Police Department will continue to lead the investigation.
