Child exchange ends in gunfire in Edmonson County, 1 arrested

EDMONSON COUNTY, Ky. – A Brownsville woman is facing a wanton endangerment charge after deputies say she fired a gun during an altercation at a child exchange earlier this month.
According to a citation from the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Department, 25-year-old Cheyanne M. King was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment – discharge of a firearm.
Deputies were called around 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 8 to the 8600 block of Nolin Dam Road in Mammoth Cave after a report of a disturbance between King and another woman during a child exchange.
The complainant told deputies King fired a pistol into the air and pointed it at her during the altercation.
Authorities later made contact with King at her residence on South Main Street in Brownsville around 5:38 p.m. Deputies say after being read her rights, King admitted to firing the gun into the air, stating she was in fear for her life after the other woman allegedly threatened her. The complainant told deputies she was not armed.
A 9mm shell casing was located at the scene, and a witness was identified in the case, authorities say.
King was arrested and lodged in the Hart County Jail. She has since been released.
