BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after a reported harassment incident at Midtown at WKU apartments.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded early Sunday morning at 5 a.m. for a report of harassment in progress.

Police say dispatch received several calls, all advising that a male subject, later identified as 35-year-old Zachariah Bergholtz of Bowling Green, was throwing glass bottles and food at balconies.

Authorities say several residents say they had heard glass shattering for the past several hours.

Police say a victim stated Bergholtz had been throwing glass bottles directly at other residents and the ground below.

In addition, another victim stated Bergholtz had been yelling all night, according to the citation.

Police attempted to make contact with Bergholtz but say he did not answer the door. Officers say he was told to stop throwing items at people and other residences.

Authorities say they were further told by a property manager that Bergholtz had recently been given a 14-day eviction notice and that during this process, Bergholtz had stated to staff members that he “believed he was going to have to kill them.”

Dispatch stated Bergholtz had resumed throwing objects at people and other living areas, police say.

Police say a caller stated Bergholtz was later yelling he “had a gun” and was “threatening to shoot people.” The citation states upon arrival, the victims stated Bergholtz had thrown a can of tuna fish, causing a resident’s window to shatter.

According to the citation, an officer was able to speak to Bergholtz over the phone. Police say Bergholtz made “several vaguely threatening statements” toward law enforcement during this time.

Police say another caller later stated Bergholtz threatened to shoot her as she was walking to her car.

According to police, a search warrant was executed, and Bergholtz was arrested.

He remains at the Warren County Detention Center.

Bergholtz is charged first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief, criminal littering, third-degree terroristic threatening and harassment (no physical contact).
