Arizona man charged with trafficking fentanyl in Logan County

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – One man is facing multiple charges after allegedly possessing fentanyl in Logan County.
The Russellville Police Department says it responded Sunday night to a report of an unresponsive subject, according to a uniform citation.
Upon arrival, police say they located 37-year-old Joseph Motley of Cottonwood, Arizona unconscious in a vehicle off of West Ninth Street.
Officers say after knocking, Motley woke up and stated he had pulled over “to take a nap.”
After being removed from the vehicle, police say they learned Motley possessed loose needles, along with a container that Motley said contained methamphetamine and fentanyl.
During a vehicle search, officers say they located additional needles, a scale, bags, $52 in cash and a military ID card belonging to another person.
Motley was transported to The Medical Center at Russellville for a blood draw. He was then placed under arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center.
Motley faces charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (less than 2 grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (carefentanil or fentanyl derivatives), theft of identity of another without consent and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, first offense.
