Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Daniel Cameron stops in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Daniel Cameron was in Bowling Green Thursday.
He met with about 50 voters at White Squirrel for lunch. Some were Cameron supporters, and others were undecided. Recent polling shows a clear majority have yet to make up their minds in this year’s race to replace Mitch McConnell. Cameron says he believes that events like this will push him over the top.
Cameron says, “I think that’s the best way to do it is to have face to face conversations and to let people see your heart and what you care about. And I happen to think that the things that I’m talking about reflect the interest and cares and concerns of most Kentuckians. And so that’s my hope. That I can get out to as many places as I can do and have conversations like the one I’ve had here today.”
We also asked the candidate about current proposals in congress to restrict immigration and customs enforcement and customs and border protection agents after two protestors were killed. Proposed restrictions include not wearing masks, having judicial warrants before entering private property and wearing body cameras.
Cameron says, “I certainly want to fully support, and fund ice and cbp. And, you know, I don’t want to see any limitations placed on their ability to do their job. You know, they are there to, you know, ensure that we crack down on illegal immigration and I support the president and his team in doing that.”
Cameron also addressed healthcare and childcare costs as well as the president’s tariffs during the lunch. The primary will be held on May 19.
