City purchases historic downtown property, plans to redevelop building for use

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The City of Bowling Green has announced the purchase of a downtown property.
According to a social media post by the city, an agreement has been reached for the city to purchase the old Potter Operate House located at 903 College Street, on the corner of E Main and College on Fountain Square.
The city will spend $1.25 million on the purchase.
The post states that the opera house was built in the late 1800s. It was last occupied by Bowling Green Bank & Trust.
The city says it has been used for storage for 20 years.
According to the post, the City of Bowling Green plans to redevelop the building over the next 6 months.
