ALLEN COUNTY, Ky. – The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services team is providing free meals to the public Thursday in communities heavily affected by the winter storm.
In Allen County, dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. at 201 S. Court St. in Scottsville. In addition, another dinner will be served during the same time at 210 Virginia Drive in Scottsville.
As of Thursday afternoon, the VH Dream Center says The Salvation Army will also be set up at the Scottsville Fire Department Station Two Thursday and Friday.
The VH Dream center says this offer of free, hot meals is available to those in need, linemen, National Guard members, city and county workers and anyone out working to serve the community.
In Monroe County, dinner will also be served from 4 to 6 p.m. This will take place at 401 W. Fourth St. in Tompkinsville.
Earlier in the afternoon, disaster services provided lunch to both communities as well.
“Our teams are committed to meeting immediate needs with compassion as communities recover from the severe impacts of this winter storm,” said Maj. Mark Hunter, incident commander of The Salvation Army’s EDS response in the area.
The Salvation Army says it currently has four mobile kitchen units deployed across Kentucky and Tennessee, 17 trained disaster personnel on site and a partnership with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, whose field kitchen is preparing meals.
