Edmonson County officials say roads are still being cleared, urge citizens to be patient
BROWNSVILLE, Ky. – Over in Edmonson County, officials say they saw nearly six inches of snow… and urge residents to be patient as roads are being cleared as quickly as possible.
As of Monday morning, Judge Executive Scott Lindsey says crews were working diligently to make progress on both state and county roads in the area.
We spoke to Lindsey Monday afternoon, who updated us on the conditions he’s seen… the main issue being the ice underneath all that snow.
“The road departments have been out nonstop… both the state and the county road departments, since everything started… but with the ice, it’s underneath the snow, and it just creates its own issues, and it’s a really slow go… and of course, the temperatures aren’t helping out either, because they’re staying below 15 degrees, which is about where the salt is less active,” Judge Lindsey says.
The best thing he says for residents to do is to stay patient while crews get the back roads cleared.
“The main roads in Brownsville through the Chalybeate area an on up 259 and 101 are in pretty good shape. They’re a little bit spotty, but the side roads are going to have some issues. So it may take us a little bit of time, but just be cautious when you’re driving. Slow down, and make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to get where you’re going… and also, I try to tell everybody make sure you have some coats and warm clothes and stuff, blankets and things like that in your vehicle should you slide off the road,” Lindsey says.
