Downtown Bowling Green prepares for Small Business Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This Friday, residents will hit the town to start their search for gifts for the holidays, but downtown Bowling Green is gearing up for Saturday.

This coming Saturday is Small Business Saturday, an opportunity to show local support for our local small businesses.

Downtown Bowling Green is home to dozens of local shops that bring a variety of great gift ideas as you get ready to start your holiday shopping.

Telia Butler, downtown development coordinator, says, “Downtown Bowling Green’s got over 40 places for you to shop, eat, drink or be entertained. And they’re all locally owned and managed and operated. So whenever you are a patron at any of these small businesses, a majority of those funds that you spend stay in our local economy and go toward local businesses.”

When you shop local, most of the money stays in the community and continues to benefit everyone who calls Bowling Green home.

Corey Boisseau, partnership success manager for the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, says, “The numbers don’t lie. $70 out of every $100 stays local. That goes towards the growth of the largest city or growing city. Fastest growing city in the state of Kentucky. And, it just we want that money to stay here and support us.”

Even with a focus on small businesses this Saturday, it is always important to keep them first in mind when shopping, no matter what time of year.
