Leitchfield man riding bicycle dead after being struck by box truck

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. – A Leitchfield man riding a bicycle was struck and killed Monday evening.

According to a report by K105, Bobby W. Basham, 62, of Leitchfield, was traveling on his bicycle south in the 2500 block of Brandenburg Road at approximately 7:30 pm. He was struck by a box truck also traveling south, according to the Grayson County Coroner’s Office.

Coroner Kevin Pharis pronounced Basham dead at the scene.

Leitchfield Fire Chief told K105 that Basham was not wearing reflectors and his bicycle did not have active reflectors.

The Leitchfield Police Department, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County Emergency Management, and EMS also responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and is led by the Leitchfield Police Department.
