According to uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department took 26-year-old Jair Yarasca into custody on Thursday following a shoplifting incident involving 22 power tools worth over $3,100.
Officers say Yarasca worked with two other male subjects in the incident, with one of them identified as 28-year-old Daniel Ortiz Catalado.
On Thursday, police say Yarasca entered Lowe’s with the other two men, where they allegedly stole the 22 power tools.
Two of the three suspects, Yarasca and Ortiz Catalado, were apprehended in the parking lot by BGPD, the citation states.
Yarasca and Ortiz Catalado were arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.
Both men face charges of engaging in organized crime and theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 – shoplifting.
According to police, an additional theft incident had occurred at Lowe’s in August involving the same circumstances with similar suspects. Through review of photo and video surveillance, police say they identified Yarasca as being one of the two suspects in the felony theft involving 13 power tools, valued at over $3,000.
Bowling Green Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward says detectives worked with store loss prevention personnel and determined that the two men are connected to thefts at two stores in Bowling Green and additional stores in Owensboro.
