Funeral arrangements announced for Butler County jailer Wayne Russ

MORGANTOWN, Ky. – Funeral arrangements have been announced for Butler County jailer Wayne Russ, who reportedly died on Monday.

According to an obituary from Smith Funeral Home, Aubrey Wayne Russ of Morgantown was 51 years old.

The obituary states Wayne Russ served multiple roles beyond Butler County Jailer, including as a member of the Kentucky Jailer’s Association and in outreaches for delivering meals, raising money for Toys for Tots and the Angel Tree in Rochester.

“Wayne’s giving was endless,” the obituary states.

An outpouring of support and mourning has been shared by several local agencies, including Morgantown Fire Department, Fourth District Fire Department and many others.

A celebration of life will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. with Cody Russ officiating.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday from 10 a.m. until the time of the celebration. Services will conclude with a last call procession through town.
