Bowling Green man charged with vehicular homicide in fatal Russellville Road crash
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is charged with vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol following a fatal crash on Russellville Road on November 1.
Bowling Green Police Department Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward says Imata Songolo, 20, of Bowling Green, was taken into custody after being released from the University of Louisville Hospital.
According to the Warren County Regional Jail site, Songolo was booked into the jail at 7:04 pm.
The Bowling Green Police Department responded to a fatal collision at the 2300 block of Russellville Road in the early morning hours of November 1.
Ward says Songolo was operating a vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic, crashing into another vehicle.
One of the occupants, Asenda Lotemba, of the struck vehicle was dead at the scene.
Songolo was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries following the crash.
Songolo is charged with vehicular homicide when under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (189a.010(1b) – 1st (agg cir). His cash bond is set at $1,000,000.
The investigation is ongoing.
