1 dead after being struck by a Christian County deputy, KSP says

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A man is dead after being struck by a law enforcement vehicle in Christian County.

Kentucky State Police says it is investigating a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Wednesday evening in Hopkinsville.

According to a release, the investigation indicates that a Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy was driving a marked police cruiser in response to a dispatch call.

KSP says the deputy struck a pedestrian, who was in the roadway, while driving to the call.

Christian County dispatch contacted KSP to request assistance at the scene located near the 4500 block of Madisonville Road (US 41) in Hopkinsville.

KSP identified the victim as Brandon Higgins, 40, of Hopkinsville.

Higgins was pronounced dead at the scene by the Christian County Coroner.

The investigation is ongoing.
