Swatting Calls

EDMONTON, Ky. – Several law enforcement agencies responded to a hoax homicide call on Tuesday evening.

Edmonton-Metcalfe 911 says the Edmonton Police Department received a complaint of an alleged homicide in city limits at 8 pm.

According to a release, Edmonton Police, Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office, and Kentucky State Police responded.

The agencies determined that the complaint call was a hoax call.

Edmonton-Metcalfe 911 says no incident occurred, no suspect was on the loose, and there was no threat to the public.

Law enforcement believes the complaint was a “swatting” call.

The release states that a “swatting” call is when someone falsely reports a serious emergency to bring a large police response to a location. The call is to cause fear and disruption.
